The cost savings, productivity gains and safety benefits delivered by the BLASTSHIELD™ system provide a valuable reduction in drill-and-blast costs.
The BLASTSHIELD™ system’s innovative features overcome historical challenges with hole lining. Most mining operators on wet sites opt to use high priced water resistant explosives instead of cheaper ANFO commodity grade explosives. Until now there has been no viable or cost effective solution.
BLASTSHIELD™ has been specifically designed as a barrier material for blast holes in waterlogged or wet conditions and/or where cracks and voids occur. BLASTSHIELD™ is a high tensile, ripstop woven material with an internal lamination to prevent water ingress and protect augured explosives from degradation.
BLASTSHIELD™ features laser markings every meter for how many meters are left on a roll and is gusseted to allow for easy installation. BLASTSHIELD™ material contains antistatic additives and is designed to comply with AS 2187.2:2008 Explosives - Storage and Use; Part 2 - Use of Explosives.
The BLASTSHIELD™Sealing Machine acts as an all weather dispenser and portable sealing unit. This means each liner is sealed in-situ prior to deployment on site, ensuring no water ingress in each hole and allowing for more cost effective explosives to be used.
